Spravato Providers in Missouri

79 listed in Missouri · Listings last verified October 2026 · How we vet listings

We list Spravato treatment centers across Missouri, mainly in St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield (79 in total). Spravato is a nasal spray for hard-to-treat depression. You take it in the office, and staff watch you for at least 2 hours after each dose. Compare the listings below, then call to ask about insurance and openings.

If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 now [5].

Spravato is only given at certified treatment centers, where you're monitored after each dose. In Missouri, those centers are mainly psychiatric practices in St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield and Columbia.

What it is

Spravato (esketamine) is a prescription nasal spray for depression, made by Johnson & Johnson. It's related to ketamine. It works differently from standard antidepressants [1].

You spray it yourself in a certified clinic, with a provider watching. Then you stay for at least 2 hours so staff can check for side effects like sleepiness, feeling disconnected (dissociation), breathing problems and higher blood pressure [1].

A typical schedule is twice a week for the first 4 weeks, then once a week for weeks 5 to 8. After that, it's once a week or every 2 weeks [1].

Spravato is only available through a safety program called the Spravato REMS. Only certified clinics can give it, and you can't take it home [1][4]. It has a boxed warning about sedation, dissociation, breathing problems, misuse and suicidal thoughts [1].

Who it's for

Spravato is approved for two groups of adults [1]:

  • Treatment-resistant depression. In the studies behind its approval, this meant depression that hadn't improved enough after at least 2 different antidepressants. Spravato can be used alone or with an antidepressant pill.
  • Major depression with suicidal thoughts or actions. Here, it's used with an antidepressant pill.

It isn't approved for children. It isn't a replacement for a hospital stay when one is needed [1].

You can't take Spravato if you have certain blood vessel problems, such as an aneurysm, or a history of bleeding in the brain [1]. Tell your provider about any past drug or alcohol misuse.

You can't drive or use machinery until the next day, after a restful sleep. Plan for someone to take you home after every visit [1].

If you're having thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 now [5].

Cost and coverage

Each Spravato visit includes both the medicine and the 2-hour monitoring. What you pay depends on your coverage.

Commercial insurance. Your plan may need to approve Spravato before you start. Ask the center to check your benefits. If you're covered, the Spravato withMe Savings Program can lower your cost to as little as $10 per treatment for the medicine. It doesn't cover the cost of the monitoring time. Yearly limits apply, and the terms reset each calendar year [2].

Medicare. Medicare treats Spravato as a medicine given in the office under a provider's direct supervision, so it's billed as part of your visit rather than picked up at a pharmacy [3]. Ask the center what your Medicare plan will cover and what you'll owe. Manufacturer savings programs can't be used with Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE or VA coverage [2].

Medicaid. Coverage and approval rules depend on your state's program. Ask the center whether it accepts Missouri Medicaid.

Travel and time. Each visit takes at least 2 hours plus check-in, and you'll need a ride home. Plan for that during the twice-weekly weeks.

How to choose a provider

Make sure the center is certified. Spravato can only be given at clinics certified in the Spravato REMS program [1][4]. Every center in our Spravato listings says it offers Spravato, but ask to confirm their REMS certification when you call.

Ask about monitoring. Staff must watch you for at least 2 hours after each dose, including checks on your breathing and blood pressure [1]. Ask where you'll wait, who watches you and what happens if you feel unwell.

Ask who manages your care. A psychiatrist or other prescriber should oversee your whole treatment, including your antidepressant. Ask how they'll measure progress and when they'll review the plan.

Ask about scheduling and costs. Ask how soon you can start, how they handle the twice-weekly weeks and whether they'll help with insurance approval and savings program enrollment.

Confirm the basics yourself. Call to check insurance and new-patient openings. We don't verify these.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have to stay 2 hours after Spravato?

Spravato can cause sleepiness, a feeling of being disconnected from yourself, higher blood pressure and, rarely, breathing problems. These effects are strongest soon after the dose. FDA rules require a provider to watch you for at least 2 hours at every session and to check that you're stable before you leave.

Can I drive after a Spravato treatment?

No. You can't drive or use machinery until the next day, after a restful sleep. Arrange for a family member, friend or ride service to take you home after every treatment. Many people plan their week around this, especially during the first month when visits are twice a week.

Is Spravato the same as ketamine?

They're closely related. Spravato contains esketamine, one form of the ketamine molecule. Spravato is an FDA-approved nasal spray for depression, given only at certified centers with set monitoring rules. Ketamine infusions for depression are not FDA approved for that use, so the rules and insurance coverage are different.

Does insurance cover Spravato?

Coverage depends on your plan, and many plans want to approve it first. With Medicare, Spravato is billed as part of your office visit at a certified center. If you have commercial insurance, the withMe Savings Program can lower your medicine cost to as little as $10 per treatment.

What if I'm in crisis while waiting to start?

Don't wait. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline any time, day or night. It's free and confidential. If you're in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Spravato is not a replacement for emergency or hospital care.
